There is a key to awakening from spiritual death.
Christianity often uses 'sleep' and 'death’ interchangeably. This is not an accident; the lessons it contains are the cornerstone of spiritual ascension.
In Ephesians, Paul encourages us all to walk as 'Children of light'.
Later in the verse, he continues to explain: ‘Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead.’ He likens physical death to a condition that you can wake from.
Paul uses "sleep" to describe spiritual slumber, urging believers to wake up and live in the light of Christ. Jesus himself uses this terminology in Matthew 9:24 when raising Jairus's daughter, saying, 'she is not dead but sleeping.' Emphasizing the relationship between spiritual sleep and physical death.
It is Christ that can wake us up.
There is a euphemism for death, calling it 'sleep' that ties into the path of enlightenment, reflecting the idea that the end of an earthly life is not the end of all life. However, Daniel 12:2 warns us that not all will awake spiritually. How can we make sure that we do?
Romans 6:5 - If we have been united together in the likeness of His Death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection. We simply follow the path of Christ so that one may become awakened from spiritual slumber and be resurrected back into the totality of the higher echelons, just as Christ shows us.
Corinthians 15:20 - Christ's resurrection is the 'firstfruits' of those who have fallen asleep. It serves as a brilliant illustration that through the resurrection of Christ, death is but a sleep with an awakening. Those who come to God through faith in Christ experience spiritual rebirth. This is our calling to follow suit.
We are continually given messages that show us Christ was the Holy Spirit, the Word of God in human form. Born to show us how man can ascend, he died to show how he would be reborn. To awaken from spiritual slumber, to continue past physical death, we must follow Christ's lessons, to be like Christ. So when we die, like Him, we become resurrected in spirit
John 11:25 - Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.
Corinthians 15:51
Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed
